NASCAR on ESPN SUCKS!!!
So, I’ve been putting up with the coverage of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series like you have since they took over from TNT(Which was no picnic either). These are the following reasons why ESPN/ABC should not be allowed to broadcast NASCAR, and the full season rights should go back to FOX.
1. Hi-Def. Yes, ESPN is available in HD, but how many people are really willing to pay an extra 20+/month on their satellite or cable bill to get it. You have the full ability to use ABC local programming for the race, so do it. You made an effort to have the equipment and several in-car cameras in HD. While NASCAR is on one the ESPNs, ABC 30-1 in St. Louis is probably showing Golf in HD, some stupid show or movie that has a 60% chance its not in HD. NASCAR belongs over-the-air and in FREE HD. Do we really need to use that bandwidth to see a golf ball fly in the air and land on the grass, or some stupid Disney Movie?
2. Don’t show stupid shit at the wrong time. ESPN does the stupid 18/58 or something, and it doesn’t seem to matter if the race just started, or if we went green after a caution. The control center should know better than to make the ding and put the scroll on my screen as soon as the race starts, or during a key moment of the race.
3. I have a surround system for a reason. The volume level on ESPN is too low(but Dish Network may be guilty on this too) I want to feel the cars while my sound system is at MAX. Also, starting the race with your so called “full throttle” is just stupid. I don’t want to hear 30 voices sayin “Green, Green, Green”. NASCAR on FOX had it right, CRANK IT UP. By they way, my sound system is a little out of whack, since it isn’t getting that exercise. Even TNT made an effort to copy the moment of nothing but the true sounds of NASCAR with the Coca Cola Drink It Down thing. If your not going to give me full 5.1 surround sound for the full race, you should atleast give me it for 3 laps. My sub-woofer for my sound system ain’t doin’ shit right now. I want the apartment complex to shake when the race is on with the volume at max.
4. Fuck your stupid “Keyword” thing. The next time I hear an announcer say, “For More information, type keyword.. Communications or Tech”…I’m gonna take the entire Internet, and shove it up their ass. First, It’s not 1995 with AOL 3.0. Fuckin’ “keywords” are just ghey, and if I really want more information, I ain’t gonna go get it from you n00bz. Even with the Dish Tech Center, and your basic coverage, you say the same damn thing, or show the same crap every 3 weeks. I don’t need to go to espn.com and type “communications” to learn that the race teams use radios to talk to each other, that there are spotters on top of the grand stands, and they relay important information. Tim Brewer, and whoever turns the coverage over to, or takes it back from him that says the retarded “For More Info type Key Word…..” By the way, if a race is going on, I don’t want half the screen going to your stupid tent of a car and tv screens, I WANT TO WATCH THE FUCKING RACE!!!
5. Your Announcers Just Suck. Now, I has to give Rusty some credit, he is a true legend and knows the sport. But, you guys don’t put anything into your broadcast. Where is the excitment when the green flag drops. No you can’t do a “Boogity, Boogity, Boogity! Let’s Go Racin’ Boys” since that DW’s, But, if your going to make an effort to make the sport interesting, either top it with something more exciting, or get DW there just for the start of the race. I just don’t feel the excitement when a race begins while watching it on ESPN/ESPN2. Also, if your broadcast staff is dependent on having an extra person when Dale Jarrett fails to make the race, you’ve got issues.
6. Don’t interrupt my race viewing experience, for anything. While watching NASCAR, I don’t need a Sports Center update, I don’t need scrolling updates taking precious real estate, and even if the race is red flagged, you shouldn’t move over to sports center. Byh the way, I see the ESPN logo on the bottom doesn’t move. That’s not good, it either needs to be animated or move. I don’t want the ESPN logo burned in on my tv. While I’m on this topic. How the hell do you fuck up the Busch race at Bristol to have to cut to commercial on the last 2 laps?
What do we have to do to get NASCAR OFF ESPN? For the sake of every HD-TV, Surround Sound System, the fans, and the sport itself, take NASCAR away from ESPN and TNT. NASCAR on FOX is the only way to GO!!!
