The way this sounds, your tax dollars are funding naming rights, and the hand out of many saftey trucks and the pace cars. While this maybe good and exposing advertising, I don’t think this is the appropiate allocation of Tax Payer Dollars.

I think is justification to call your Senators and Congressman when GM And Chrysler come back whining for more money. The money is meant to turn to companies around in adding efficincies and restructuring, NOT ADVERTISING.

Talks have been going on all season with Subway and other potential sponsors the the Premier series of NASCAR. The decision was announced today that Nationwide Insurance will be sponsoring what will forever be referred to the “BUSCH Series.” Now, can you even think of referring to that series to anything else?? Come on, NASCAR Nationwide Series? It just doesn’t seem right!

While it is hard to think of a NASCAR not based on Tobacco or Beer, we do have to realize that this sport is now official in the big leagues, and the dollars and corporate America speaks. Budweiser is no longer the official beer of NASCAR on the Speed Weeks start at Daytone on Feb. 2008. Look forward to the Coors Pole Award and Coors Shoot Out, as Budweiser decided not to pursue being the Official Beer of NASCAR, of the #8 Chevrolet or Dale Jr. The only association with NASCAR at this point for 2008 is with the babyfaced Kasey Kahne in the #9 Dodge, whcih isn’t even an exclusive deal either, as the hood of the #9 Dodge will have to be given up a couple weeks for other Sponsors of Kasey Kahne like Allstate.

Look back at the legal fights that went on for most of the season with Richard Childress Racing, AT&T, NASCAR, and NEXTEL (Sprint). Since the consolidating of AT&T from the SBC’s and Cingular (Refer to a Sin Wave, just like as in the climate for those believers in the fiction of “global warming”) The basic of AT&T as a collective or as a disconnect seems to be based on the 8 year political spectrum. Might I add my cell phone service still sucks, and AT&t Will no longer be the provider of Wireless Service for flahavin.com very soon, especially for the cost (try to beat the deals at http://www.sprint.com/sero).

While the corporate and sponsor side of NASCAR go mainstream, take a look at the situation of the drivers. Since every other series doesn’t stand a chance, there are many drivers trying to make their way into the NASCAR field. Juan Pablo Montoya already made a move, and proved he doesn’t belong in NASCAR. It’s all about the profit and sponsors now, and the sports has long much of it’s touch. This sport was based on delivering Moonshine back in Prohibition and the best tracks are based on the South East, and the current direction of the sport is to disconnect from it’s past.

It all started a few years ago when NASCAR spoke against the Confederate Flag being displayed by the true hard core fans, since it isn’t welcoming to bring “minorities” into the Sport. Now today, the foundation of the sport is being slowly cut out, Sponsor deals are being blocked due to exclusive rights to NASCAR, Arrogant drivers like Juan Pablo Montoya are infiltrating the field no realizing that the sport is based on the fans. Juan Pablo Montoya makes Jeff Gordon looks like a decent guy, but don’t be fooled, Jeff Gordon is more than a douche bag, Juan Pablo is much worse.

The year 2008 should be very interesting with no NASCAR Busch Series, No Bud Pole Awards, No Dale Jr. in the #8 Budweiser Chevrolet, Open Wheel drivers being bigger douche bags than Jeff Gordon(which I didn’t think was possible) making their way in. Ohh yeah, we can’t forget about the fact with more drivers getting in, and no one leaving that its going to be more of a fight for decent teams to make the race in the 43 spots. Yes, this does make things more exciting, but it will drive dedicated people out of the sport, since Sponsors will not tolerate not having their logo around the field during the race.

We still have to look forward to a few more decision this year that can either make things worse, or keep NASCAR what it is. NASCAR claims they will address the top35 rule and how those teams not in the top35 will fight their way in the field. There are still a couple free agents and unfilled spots. Hopefully the talented people get those spots. Ohh yeah, lets not forget about the Car Of Tomorrow(Which isn’t tomorrow anymore) will impact the competitiveness of the sport. Many of the teams that used the Busch Series to get extra practice and info from running both the Busch and CUP races will lose an advantage, and could kill any incentive for Race Owners to field cars in both series, or to allow the Busch Whackers(What will we call them next year? Nationwide whackers?, No that just sounds wrong)

I’ve ranted enough on these topics, and would love to see some real responses from the flahavin.com readers and true NASCAR fans.

YOU FUCKING SUCK EA SPORTS. You have been unsuccessfuly in many attempts to make a quality racing game. Either get your shit together, or get rid of the “exclusive” right to NASCAR games. First you abandon the PC after Nascar SimRacing, and years later you come out with a shitty game that freezes, has an AI without the I, and pisses me off in every other matter. Ohh by the way, did you really have to exclude Carl Edwards from the Roster?

NASCAR, take away the exclusive rights from EA Sports for NASCAR games, and lets get Papyrus back in the game with some quality
